Public Celebration of Mass and the Sacraments from 29th June

27 Jun 2020

PUBLIC MASSES

Permission has now been given to resume public celebration of Mass and sacraments from the 29th June, provided all restrictions and protocols are observed. This includes cleaning/ sanitising of the Church after each ceremony, observing proper distance and having stewards for larger gatherings. Numbers will be limited.

We propose to begin with caution and with minimum risk of spreading the infection.

Next weekend therefore (4/5 July) we invite those parishioners in Ballymaguigan who live beyond St Trea’s school to attend the vigil Mass, and those who live on Creagh Road and beyond (excluding Bannside) to attend the Sunday morning Mass.

On the 11/12 July it will be parishioners from Derrygarve, Aughrim Road, Airfield Road & Bannside for the vigil Mass, and the remainder of Ballymaguigan for the 10am Mass.

The obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holydays remains suspended. The Irish Catholic Bishops' Conference, in their Framework Document for a return to the public celebration of Mass and the Sacraments advised that:

"It is most important that people who are vulnerable or unwell, and especially those with any symptoms that might suggest Covid-19 infection, should stay at home and, if possible, participate, as now, via webcam, social media, television, or radio.  The same applies to those who have been in recent contact with someone who has the virus, in accordance with public health advice."

Volunteers to steward and clean should be provided by the area attending. We are grateful for those who have already volunteered but uptake has been low. Public Mass is not permitted in their absence. Young people and those not shielding are invited to help our parish in this time of need. Morning Mass can also resume only if these are in place.

Evening Mass on Monday 7pm – Feast of St Peter & St Paul – will be for the repose of the late Michael Walls.

WEEKEND MASSES: (limited numbers as above) Saturday 7pm & Sunday 10am

WEEKDAY MASSES:      10am (except Monday 7pm) Volunteer dependent.

CONFESSIONS:             Saturday 4th July 5pm

ROSARY:  7pm. Led by a parishioner at home each evening. All are invited to join at that time to pray for protection from Covid 19.
