COVID 19 (Coronavirus) - advice to parishioners

16 Mar 2020

COVID 19 (Coronavirus) advice to parishioners.

We wish to advise parishioners that anyone who has symptoms of a cold, especially with a raised temperature, should avoid mixing with people for seven days (i.e. self isolate). This is for your own protection. Father Fox is doing this at present while his condition improves.

There are no reports of anyone testing positive for coronavirus in the parish at this time.

As you may know, further measures are being introduced to limit the spread of the virus. These include:
  • Everyone should avoid gatherings and crowded places, such as pubs, clubs and theatres ;
  • Everyone should work from home if they can ;
  • All "unnecessary" visits to friends and relatives in care homes should cease ;
  • If one person in any household has a persistent cough or fever, everyone living there must stay at home for 14 days ;
  • By next weekend, those with the most serious health conditions must be "largely shielded from social contact for around 12 weeks". The group of people who should take "particular care to minimise their social contact" are:
    • People over the age of 70 ;
    • Other adults who would normally be advised to have the flu vaccine (such as those with chronic diseases) ;
    • Pregnant women.
